I have designed a multifunctional room divider as a combination of a TV cabinet and cabinet. Due to the partially open structure, the design maintains an airy atmosphere and allows light to pass through to the other part of the room. As a result, we have not only created an elegant place for the TV, but also significantly added storage space. The room divider also offers enough space for plants and other accessories. I made one intermediate shelf in the TV cabinet and four intermediate shelves in the tall cabinet.

How I made this project

When furnishing our house, we struggled with the question: where should we place the TV? The solution soon presented itself: a room divider. The next challenge was the design. I created a detailed design in a 3D CAD program, which allowed me to determine the exact dimensions of the panels. For the room divider I chose oak and Multiplex Interieur Poplar Gegrond from this online sawmill. I got the oak elsewhere. Everything was cut to size, so all I had to do was drill in dowels and glue everything together. The visible edges of the plywood were treated with edge sealer and filler, while the whole was given an off-white color (Prosecco, Gamma color swatch). The oak wood was treated with a natural two-component monocoat. For the doors I chose kitchen hinges because of their adjustment options in three directions, which made assembly and adjustment easier.
