In this DIY project, Kay shows how he turned custom pellos floor panels ordered online into a beautiful project. Read his approach and experience below.

Description of Kay

By building a window with multiple functions, we created an extra long seating area of almost 4 meters long. The children like to clamber and climb on it and the left side serves as a cupboard with a concealed drawer. It also offers enough space for decoration. Because the large dining table is now not centered in the room, the biggest gain is in the passage of the room.

How I made this project

Because of the removal of the radiator, space has become available to realize this project. After measuring the space, I converted all the measurements into a technical drawing in Illustrator. and I have taken into account which materials I want to work with. This means that I also took insulation, glue and screws into account (as a designer, this is of course a bit easier to achieve). After assembling the framework of 44x69 beams. Because I didn't want to see any screws in the visible work, I screwed large remnants of plywood, with insulation in between, onto the framework. This allowed me to both level out the uneven window, lock down the insulation and provide an even surface for the finish which I bonded with construction adhesive.

Dimensions of my DIY project
